Calling it one of Hizbul Mujahideen’s biggest and most strategic centers, Col. Qureshi stated, “It is one of the control centres for spreading terrorism in the Kathua, Jammu region.”
She said that intelligence assessments trace this camp to the planning and coordination of the 2016 Pathankot air force base attack, when terrorists armed with sophisticated weapons breached the highly fortified complex. The visual evidence presented during the briefing comprised imagery of the camp buildings that were destroyed and surveillance footage, said to have been recorded before and after the operation.
Col. Qureshi further said that this discovery is a watershed moment for India’s anti-terror initiatives because it reveals not just the extent of cross-border terror networks but also the Pakistani territory’s active role in supporting such operations.
The officials reasserted the army’s devotion to national security and issued warnings of continued monitoring and swift action against threats originating from across the border.
