CM urges residents of low-lying areas to leave immediately

As the Yamuna River flows above the danger mark, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, requested the residents of low-lying areas to vacate immediately.
Since Yamuna broke the 40-year-old record and flowed above the danger mark.
It recorded the highest level ever at 207.81 metres on Wednesday. After seeing the worst scenario on Wednesday evening, CM Arvind Kejriwal urged the people who reside in the low-lying area to leave the place as soon as possible with the needed essentials.
During the press conference, he said we have made adequate arrangements for everything, including food and toilets at camps. Kejriwal also urged people not to click selfies or take videos of the flooded Yamuna, as it could be dangerous. He further said, I have met all the District magistrates and instructed them to take over schools and convert them to relief camps for the utilisation of toilets and other facilities.
Earlier in the day, he wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the recent flood situation. He urged the Centre to intervene and ensure that levels in the Yamuna don’t rise further. The level of the Yamuna in Delhi reached 207.55 metres today at 1 p.m.
Levels of the Yamuna are continuously rising due to high volumes of water being released by Haryana from the Hathnikund barrage. Before this, the maximum level of the Yamuna had been reached in 1978, which was 207.49 metres. At that time, there was a flood in Delhi, and the situation became very serious. Currently, the level of the Yamuna crosses 207.81 metres, which is above the danger mark. However, he said Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat has informed him that it is not possible to limit the flow of the river as there is no reservoir at Hathinikund Barrage.
