New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) foiled a suspected child kidnapping and trafficking attempt at the RRTS Sarai Kale Khan station after alert personnel rescued a seven-year-old boy who was allegedly being taken away by force by a man and a woman.
The incident took place on July 28 at around 5:55 pm near Gate No. 1 of the RRTS Sarai Kale Khan station, where the prompt response of CISF personnel prevented what authorities suspect could have been a case of child trafficking.
According to officials, CISF constable Kuldeep, who was monitoring CCTV footage at the station, noticed a man and a woman accompanying a child who appeared to be continuously crying. Sensing that the child’s behaviour was unusual and could indicate distress, the CCTV observer immediately alerted on-ground personnel, who intercepted the trio for questioning.
During the inquiry, the child, identified as Bunty, told CISF personnel that the two adults were taking him away against his will. Acting swiftly, the CISF detained the suspects and informed the station’s Shift In-Charge and the Station Control Room (SCR), who alerted the local police.
Police from the Sarai Kale Khan Police Post soon reached the station and took custody of the suspects for further investigation.
Officials said the woman detained in the case is a 22-year-old resident of Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh, while the rescued child lives with his family at the Rain Basera (night shelter) in Sarai Kale Khan.
Following preliminary questioning, the suspects were formally handed over to the police, who have launched a detailed investigation into the alleged kidnapping attempt and are examining whether the case has links to a larger human trafficking network. The child’s parents were contacted immediately, and he was safely reunited with them after the intervention.
Officials noted that transport hubs across the National Capital Region are often vulnerable to human trafficking syndicates that target children for forced begging, child labour and other forms of exploitation. They said the timely vigilance of CISF personnel helped avert what could have become a serious crime.
In recognition of his prompt action and alertness, the Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) commended CISF constable Kuldeep for his role in rescuing the child. The officials said his swift response reflected the force’s commitment to ensuring passenger safety and protecting vulnerable individuals at public transport facilities.
