New Delhi, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit will be in Australia from July 26–28 to attend the 11th iteration of the Exercise Talisman Sabre, officials announced on Friday.
It is a elite multilateral training exercise commanded by the Australian Defence Force and United States Armed Forces and expected to witness participation from 19 countries, encompassing a broad range of regional and international partners, the Indian defence ministry has said in a release.
Six officers from the Indian armed forces are participating in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 as "staff planners at various levels of joint operations planning, control, safety and logistics", it said.
Indian officers have earlier participated in 2021 and 2023 as "Observers".
The Indian armed forces' participation in Exercise Talisman Sabre is a "testimony to India's growing role in multilateral defence diplomacy and its active contribution to a stable Indo-Pacific", the ministry said in a statement.
The exercise is an excellent opportunity to enhance military-to-military cooperation, share strategic perspectives and enhance India's vision of cooperative security engagement.
During the visit, the CISC will have interactions with top brass of armed forces of Australia and other nations participating in the exercise, and observe several training activities under TS25 scheduled, the officials added.
The visit affirms India's resolve to increase defence cooperation and improve interoperability with friendly foreign countries. It also marks the increasing reputation of Indian armed forces as a reliable counterpart for developing regional security and joint readiness for conceivable contingencies, it added.
"TS25 will showcase extensive interoperability and joint warfare capabilities across air, land, maritime, space and cyber domains. It will feature complex live-fire drills, amphibious operations, integrated field training and realistic testbed for modern multi-domain operations in support of a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific," the ministry said.
