Chhattisgarh’s mashaal march: 5 Congress workers sustain burn injuries in Jagdalpur

Five Congress workers were burned during the party’s ‘Mashaal march’ against the Centre over Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification and “to save democracy” in Jagdalpur on Friday.

“Four of them have burns ranging from 10% to 30%, while the fifth has burns that exceed 30%. All of them are in good health and are not in danger,” Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Civil Surgeon at Maharani Hospital in Jagdalpur, said.

Earlier that day, on March 28, the Delhi Congress held a ‘Mashaal’ march to protest Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha, during which several leaders were detained.

The Delhi police released all protesters, including Congress leaders and workers, who had been detained outside the Red Fort as part of the party’s campaign against the government over Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification and to “save democracy.”

At 7 p.m., party MPs and workers gathered at the Red Fort to take part in the Congress’ ‘Loktantra Bachao Mashaal Shanti’ march. The detainees were transferred to North Delhi’s Kingsway Camp PS.

The party’s month-long campaign includes press conferences in 35 major cities by national-level leaders, Jai Bharat Satyagraha at the district and state levels, and Jai Bharat Maha Satyagraha at the national level.

The Congress has announced a month-long protest against Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification after he was found guilty and sentenced to two years in prison in a defamation case from 2019 by the Surat Court on March 23.
