Chandigarh Electricity Rates Increase Effective August 1

Electricity supply in the city is done by the engineering department of the administration, but it is JERC which decides whether the electricity prices will increase or decrease.
This time the Engineering Department had proposed a 23.35% hike in domestic electricity prices, but during the public hearing, people had strongly opposed the hike in prices. Earlier people had to pay Rs 4.25 for 151 to 400 units, now they have to pay Rs 4.80. For more than 400 units, earlier one had to spend Rs 4.65 per unit, now one will have to spend Rs 5.40. The biggest increase has been in the fixed charge, which has been increased from Rs 15 to Rs 30 directly. The highest in the city The electricity consumption of houses is between 151 to 400 units. Therefore, the electricity bill of maximum houses in Chandigarh will increase in the coming days.
