Centre upgrades post of acting ED director, 10 other bureaucrats to Additional Secretary

The Acting Director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Rahul Navin, along with 10 other bureaucrats, has been elevated to the position of Additional Secretary by the Central government.

The decision was made by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ACC granted in-situ upgradation to these officers, temporarily elevating their posts to the level of Additional Secretary to the government.

Rahul Navin, a 1993 batch IRS officer presently serving as the Special Director in the Enforcement Directorate, took over as the Acting Director after Sanjay Kumar Mishra’s departure in September last year. Mishra stepped down in compliance with the Supreme Court-mandated tenure deadline. Navin will continue as the Acting Director until the appointment of a regular director or until further orders from the government.

Apart from Navin, the government has also upgraded the positions of Shubha Thakur, Sanjukta Mudgal, Anant Swarup, Navaljit Kapoor, Manoj Pandey, Anurag Bajpai, Alok Pande, Sunil Kumar, Hanif Qureshi, and Anandrao Vishnu Patil to Additional Secretary roles in various departments. These include the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Culture, Department of Commerce in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Department of Defence Production, Department of Investment and Public Asset Management in the Ministry of Finance, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Heavy Industries, and Department of School Education and Literacy.

Furthermore, the ACC has promoted seven officers deputed to different ministries and departments as Additional Secretary. Sanjeev Kumar Jindal has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Department of Home in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Additionally, Asit Gopal, Tripti Gurha, Samir Kumar Sinha, Bharat Harbanslal Khera, Chandra Bhushan Kumar, and Puja Singh Mandol have been promoted to Additional Secretary roles in the Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Department of Defence, Department of Consumer Affairs in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation in Jal Jeevan Mission, and Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, respectively.
