BSF Director General Nitin Agrawal on Sunday conducted a comprehensive review of the operational readiness of troops stationed along the International Border in the Jammu sector, an official of the force reported.
Agrawal arrived in Jammu on Saturday for a two-day visit to assess the security situation along the border. He participated in a joint security review meeting alongside Special Director General BSF, Western Command, Y B Khurania, and Inspector General, BSF, Jammu Frontier, D K Boora.
The meeting, held at the police headquarters and chaired by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, included the heads of various paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies. It was convened to address the recent increase in terror activities and cross-border infiltration attempts.
The BSF chief also met with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who later held a separate meeting with senior officers to discuss counter-terrorism operations.
On Sunday, a BSF spokesman said the DG reviewed the operational readiness of troops deployed in the Jammu border area and discussed operational aspects with unit commandants.
Earlier, upon Agrawal’s arrival in Jammu, senior officers including Khurania and Boora interacted with him regarding the prevailing security scenario. The BSF Jammu IG briefed the DG on critical aspects of border security and the strategies being employed by the BSF to maintain control along the Jammu border.
