A suspected, bomb-like device was found on Friday morning in the Kishanghat area of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, just a few hours after Pakistan conducted drone and missile strikes along India’s western frontier, a PTI report said.

The Indian Air Force acted quickly after a local resident reported the object. The region was sealed immediately, and army bomb disposal experts were called in to examine and defuse the suspected bomb.

Initial reports from the local police indicate that the object seems to be a component of a drone supposedly fired by Pakistan on Thursday evening at about 10:30 pm. An official confirmation, however, is awaited. “It is not yet known whether it is live or destroyed,” Kotwali SHO Prem Daan informed PTI.

Local resident Arjun Nath found the item close to a nursery in the Jogis’ colony, opposite Kishanghat in the kotwali police station’s jurisdiction. He informed Kalyan Ram, a member of the region’s sarpanch, who approached the authorities in turn.

Pakistan Targets Indian Cities

In a retaliatory attack on Thursday night, Pakistan launched a new series of missile and drone strikes that targeted to strike Indian army camps in Pathankot, Jammu, and Udhampur. The attacks were after India carried out precision bombings against terror outfits in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan last month as part of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Indian troops successfully repelled the attacks, which were aimed at a number of strategic points in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The defence ministry states that, “The Pakistani military on Thursday night tried to target Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj.”

Operation Sindoor: India’s Retaliation

India’s missile attacks on Wednesday were a direct reaction to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left people dead. India’s military struck nine terror hubs across PoK and Pakistan in a high-accuracy operation that proved its strategic prowess and determination.

As temperatures rose along the western frontier, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma summoned a high-level meeting to assess the situation and enhance the state’s readiness, ANI said.

As part of emergency steps, the state government suspended leaves for the entire staff deployed in the border regions and redeployed administrative officials to fill any vacancies in the sensitive sectors.
