A suspected terrorist, believed to be connected with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa, was killed in a blast near Majitha bypass in Amritsar, Punjab. According to the police, the explosion occurred while he was attempting to retrieve an explosive consignment.
Deputy Inspector General (Border Range) Satinder Singh confirmed the incident and said, “The man who died was a member of a terrorist organisation. He died in a blast while trying to retrieve an explosive. We are investigating what was on their target. We have found some clues from his pants’ pocket.”
Terror Links Being Probed
Officials have not identified the deceased yet, but suspect links to Pakistan’s ISI and Babbar Khalsa. Police received information about the blast early in the morning. Upon arrival, they found the man critically injured—he later succumbed to his injuries.
Explosives Mishandled, Say Officials
“It appears that he did not handle it properly, and it exploded,” stated Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Maninder Singh, explaining the preliminary findings. The explosion site was located near the Majitha Road bypass, which is now being thoroughly examined.
