A man was badly hurt when a bomb he was reportedly trying to place exploded in his hands close to the Amritsar bypass. The incident took place close to Naushera village of Amritsar’s rural district within the Kambo police station jurisdiction.
Explosion Near Naushera Village Triggers Panic
The explosion occurred in a plot that borders the main road, filling the air with smoke and scaring residents. Images of the scene revealed heavy smoke billowing out of the location. The male, who was said to be working on the explosive device, suffered critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
Police Start Investigation, Investigate Extended Conspiracy
Police authorities soon reached the location and secured the area. A probe is being launched to find out if the blast was part of a larger terror plan or otherwise.
A senior Amritsar Rural Police officer, Maninder Singh, stated that the man could be attempting to pick up a consignment of explosives. “Mostly, in the deserted area, we have also observed in the past that anti-national forces come to pick up their consignments. We suspect that he is one of the accused who came to pick up the consignment and, because of mishandling an explosive, he got injured,” Singh informed ANI.
Police Orient Toward Anti-National Forces and Terror Connections
A possible terror connection is suspected by authorities, as earlier there were instances of deserted areas being utilized for storing or picking up explosive materials by anti-national forces. Investigators are also investigating any likely connection to cross-border trafficking or intended attacks.
