The body of a 30-year-old woman, identified as Saniya Rai, was discovered in a decomposed state in her rented apartment in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. The police received a PCR call from the building owner reporting a foul smell emanating from the apartment. Upon arrival, the police found the apartment locked from the inside and, after entering, discovered the body on the floor.
Saniya Rai had been residing in the apartment since July 2022. Although there were no visible external injuries on the body, the advanced state of decomposition made it challenging to immediately determine the cause of death. The police initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and sent the body for a post-mortem examination at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
Investigations are ongoing, and a case has been registered in connection with the incident. The police are working to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Saniya Rai’s death and gather additional information to determine the cause of the decomposed state of the body.
