The BJP has continued to exert pressure on the Congress leadership regarding the discovery of Rs 305 crore in cash from the Rajya Sabha MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu of the opposition party.
BJP chief JP Nadda, along with his party colleagues, criticised the Congress and its Jharkhand MP Dheeraj Sahu, who is at the centre of one of India’s largest cash seizures. During raids on offices associated with an Odisha-based distillery and entities connected to it in Jharkhand and Bengal, at least Rs 305 crore was seized in hard cash. Officials have revealed that the distillery is linked to Dheeraj Sahu.
On Sunday, BJP National President JP Nadda slammed the Congress and called for an explanation from Rahul Gandhi, as the unaccounted cash haul is considered the ‘highest ever’ in the country.
“Brother, both you and your leader Rahul Gandhi will have to answer. This is the new India, here people will not be allowed to be exploited in the name of the royal family. You will get tired running, but the law will not leave you,” Nadda said in a post on X.
Asserting strong action in the case, the BJP chief said that if Congress is guarantee of corruption, PM Modi is a guarantee for action. “If Congress is the guarantee of corruption, then Modi ji is the guarantee of action against corruption. Every penny looted from the public will have to be returned,” Nadda added.
Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the long-standing political party for the income tax department’s confiscation from liquor company facilities associated with Jharkhand MP Sahu. PM Modi strongly condemned the Congress, asserting that the seizure revealed the opposition party’s hypocrisy regarding corruption.
After the cash was discovered at various locations linked to the Congress MP, PM Modi declared, “Every penny looted from the public must be returned; this is Modi’s guarantee.” Sahu had actively participated in the Congress padayatra ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ led by Rahul Gandhi.
Mocking the Congress leadership and the Gandhi family, Amit Malviya, the head of BJP’s IT department, posted a picture of Sahu with Rahul Gandhi during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra.’ In a post on X, Malviya remarked, “Dhiraj Prasad Sahu lost two Lok Sabha elections but has been sent to the Rajya Sabha by the Congress thrice. Sahu says his family has been associated with the Congress since Independence.” He added, “Rather than ‘attempting’ to distance themselves from Sahu, the Congress must clarify which Gandhi’s ATM he was.
