BJP gears up for largest public rally in TN today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive on Tuesday in Palladam, Tamil Nadu for the 2024 Lok Sabha campaign. It is also the day which sees the culmination of Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai’s En Mann, En Makkal yatra and around 10 lakh cadres from across the state are expected at this event.

Annamalai wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “We have crossed 232 constituencies. Waiting to cross the last two constituencies along with you on 27th Feb. Look forward to meeting all of you in Palladam.” He has predicted that a massive change would take place during the Lok Sabha elections this year, which will impact the Assembly Elections in 2026.

The venue of 1100 acres at Maddapur (near Palladam, Tirupur district) for PM Modi’s campaign is stated to be the biggest rally the BJP has ever held in Tamil Nadu. This venue can seat five lakh people but 10 lakh are expected to attend as per BJP leaders. There have been extensive arrangements made including areas for a kitchen, dining and parking for people coming in from other places. The kitchen is being readied to provide the cadres with food. A helipad is also being constructed for the PM’s arrival. Nearly 6000 to 10000 police personnel will be deployed around the meeting venue upto Palladam and in Tirupur as well.

On February 27, PM Modi will arrive at Sulu Airport and then head to Madappur in a helicopter. He will address the party cadres from 2 45 pm and then head to Madurai to participate in the Digital Mobility Initiative for Automotive MSMEs at TVS Lakshmi School. After an overnight stay, the PM will address a rally in Tirunelveli on February 28 and then fly to Thiruvananthapuram.

Interestingly, the BJP has used robots to give out the invitations to people for the Palladam rally. The ‘nila’ robots have been stationed across different places in Tirupur and Palladam and have been effective, state the cadres.
In 2019, PM Modi held massive rallies in Theni and in Perumanallur (near Tirupur) in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. He is returning to Tirupur after five years now.
