BJP Alleges Crime Scene Tampering In Kolkata Doctor’s Murder Case

In a shocking development surrounding the Kolkata doctor rape and murder case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused authorities of attempting to tamper with evidence. The accusations focus on Sandip Ghosh, the ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, who allegedly ordered renovations near the seminar hall where the young doctor was raped and murdered.

Alleged Tampering After Tragic Incident

BJP Bengal chief Sukanta Mazumdar raised concerns by sharing a viral letter allegedly signed by Sandip Ghosh, dated August 10—just one day after the victim was found dead. According to the letter, Ghosh had requested renovation work in areas close to the crime scene, which many believe could interfere with the ongoing investigation.

The purported letter was addressed to executive engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD) and authorized repairs to attached toilets and doctors’ rooms at the hospital. The BJP now claims that this renovation order may have been part of an effort to tamper with crucial evidence.

Opposition Questions the Timing

Mazumdar questioned the timing of the renovation order, claiming that hospital authorities acted too quickly after the doctor’s death. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Despite complaints from colleagues and protesters about potential tampering, the Police Commissioner denied such allegations.”

The letter’s authenticity has not been verified independently, but its contents have raised significant concerns among opposition leaders and the public.

Family’s Struggle and Delay in FIR

Further complicating the matter, the victim’s family revealed that hospital officials initially told them the doctor had died by suicide. The father of the victim said it took over three hours for them to be allowed to view their daughter’s body. The Supreme Court has since questioned the Bengal government about the delay in registering a First Information Report (FIR) under sections related to murder.

Ongoing Investigation

Earlier this week, Sandip Ghosh was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged financial misconduct, including selling corpses illegally. The ongoing probe into the doctor’s death has also led to the arrest of Sanjay Roy, a civil volunteer, who has been charged with the crime.

The incident, which took place in the seminar hall of the hospital while the doctor was resting during a 36-hour shift, has shocked the medical community and sparked widespread protests.

The BJP’s allegations have only added to the growing controversy surrounding the case, with calls for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.
