In a shocking incident, officials from Bihar’s Mining Department, including a woman, were beaten with sticks and attacked while conducting an inspection in Bihta town, Patna district, officials said.
The officials were chased by alleged members of the sand mafia, who thrashed them with sticks and threw stones at them, according to a video that went viral on Monday.
The alleged video also shows the female official being dragged and beaten by the mob as she falls to the ground while attempting to flee. According to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), 44 people were arrested and three FIRs were filed in connection with the incident.
According to the police official, raids are being conducted to apprehend others in connection with the incident, which occurred in Parev village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Bihta police station.
According to the Patna district administration, the incident occurred during an inspection as part of a campaign to combat illegal mining in the Bihta area. Amya Kumari, Kumar Gaurav, and Syed Farheen are among the mining inspectors whon injured.
