Baba Siddiqui murder exposes collapse of law & order in Maharashtra, govt must take responsibility: Rahul

Congress leader and Leader of Opposotion in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday condoled the death of senior Maharashtra leader Baba Siddiqui and said that the horrifying incident exposes the complete collapse of law and order in the state and government must take responsibility and justice must prevail.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said, “The tragic demise of Baba Siddique ji is shocking and saddening. My thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.”

“This horrifying incident exposes the complete collapse of law and order in Maharashtra. The government must take responsibility, and justice must prevail,” the former Congress chief said.

His remarks came a day after Siddiquu, a former Congress leader, who had joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP in Maharashtra was shot dead by shooters on Saturday night in Bandra East area of Mumbai, near his son Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office.

He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where he succumbed to injuries. He was shot multiple times in his abdomen and chest. The police later arrested two people, one hailing from Uttar Pradesh and another from Haryana.

Even Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge took to X and condoled the desth of Baba Siddiqui, a former Maharashtra Minister.

He said, “The tragic demise of Former Maharashtra Minister, Baba Siddique is shocking beyond words.”

“In this hour of grief, I offer my deepest condolences to his family, friends and supporters,” Kharhe said.

“Justice must be ensured, and the present Maharashtra Govt must order a thorough and transparent investigation. The culprits must be brought to book at the earliest. Accountability is paramount,” the Leader of Opposotion in the Rajya Sabha said.

Baba Siddiqui’s son Zeeshan is a MLA from Congress in Maharashtra assembly.
