Ayodhya is experiencing a landmark moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to hoist a saffron flag atop the Ram Temple, marking its formal completion. This comes nearly twenty-two months after he led the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol in the temple’s sanctum.
The 10x20 feet triangular flag features the Sun, ‘Om’, and the Kovidara tree, symbolising the strength, brilliance, and divine presence of Lord Ram. The event coincides with Vivah Panchami, the sacred day honoring the divine marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, adding a deep spiritual meaning to the ceremony.
Prime Minister Modi, along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel, offered prayers at Mata Annapurna Mandir ahead of the flag-hoisting ceremony at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.
Before the main event, the Prime Minister also prayed at the Sheshavtar Mandir, following the ceremonial schedule of visits.
Large quantities of prasadam have been prepared and are being transported to the Ram Temple complex for distribution among attendees and invitees.
Children recited Vedic mantras as they arrive to witness the historic flag hoisting ceremony at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya.
Around 7,000 guests will witness the ceremony, including dignitaries such as RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The guest list reflects inclusivity, with many attendees belonging to middle and lower-middle-class families, backward communities, scheduled castes, and minority groups. Temple workers and donors have also been invited to the historic celebration.
