Audi Hit-and-Run Crushes Man During Morning Walk in Noida

Tragedy struck in Sector 53 near Gijhore village on Sunday morning when a 53-year-old man lost his life in an Audi hit-and-run incident. Janak Dev Shah, a former Group D employee with All India Radio and resident of Sector 53, was out for his routine morning walk when the accident occurred.

According to ACP Arvind Kumar, Shah was returning home around 6:30 am when a speeding Audi struck him from behind near a primary school. The impact of the collision flung Shah into the air, and he landed approximately 20 meters away. Shockingly, the driver of the Audi failed to stop after the accident, leaving Shah critically injured on the road.

CCTV footage from a nearby camera captured the harrowing incident, showing Shah walking along the road with a can in his hand before the Audi struck him. Despite efforts to trace the driver, the vehicle’s number plate remains unidentified.

Following a complaint filed by Shah’s family, law enforcement authorities have registered a case against the driver under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (death due to negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Two teams have been formed to locate the driver and conduct a thorough investigation, including scrutiny of CCTV footage from surrounding areas for further evidence.

Shah’s family members expressed shock and disbelief over the sudden tragedy, describing his routine morning activities. They recalled how Shah would often return home with milk after his morning walks. Devastated by the untimely loss, the family received news of the accident merely 20 minutes after Shah had left home.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by reckless driving and underscores the importance of road safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
