Assembly Polls: BJP Ousts 28 Arunachal Pradesh Leaders for Defying Party

On Tuesday, the BJP in Arunachal Pradesh expelled 28 party leaders for contesting the April 19 Assembly elections against the party’s official candidates. The state’s disciplinary action committee, led by Tarh Tarak, announced the expulsion, which lasts for six years, according to a statement from the state BJP.

These individuals had run in the Assembly polls representing various parties including the National People’s Party (NPP), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the People’s Party of Arunachal, and as Independents.

Out of all the Assembly seats in Arunachal, the ruling BJP had nominated 60 candidates, with 10 of them winning their seats uncontested.

Both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections took place simultaneously in the BJP-ruled state during the first phase on April 19th. The results of the Assembly elections are scheduled to be announced on June 2nd, while the Lok Sabha results will be disclosed on June 4th.
