The Rajasthan High Court has granted seven-day parole to Asaram Bapu, who is currently serving a sentence in Jodhpur Central Jail on charges of sexual abuse. The decision, announced by the division bench of Justice Dr. Pushpendra Singh Bhati, allows Asaram to leave jail to receive medical treatment in Maharashtra.
The parole was granted based on considerations of Asaram’s health needs. The court has authorized his temporary release to undergo necessary medical care, citing that he will be treated at a facility in Maharashtra.
Asaram, who has been serving his sentence following his conviction for sexual abuse, will be under police custody during his parole period. The interim parole is intended to facilitate his treatment while ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
The court’s decision reflects a balance between upholding legal constraints and addressing health concerns, granting Asaram the opportunity for medical intervention while remaining under supervision.
