BJP’s Annamalai congratulates Congress for winning Karnataka polls

K Annamalai, the head of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, congratulated the Congress on its victory in the Karnataka assembly election on Sunday. “Congratulations to @INCKarnataka for winning the popular vote in Karnataka. I hope they follow through on their commitments. Working with the dedicated Karyakartas & leaders of @BJP4Karnataka was a wonderful honour. You are incredibly motivating, and we will retaliate forcefully! Annamalai tweeted.

The BJP will keep working hard to gain the confidence of the people of Karnataka, according to Annamalai, who actively campaigned for the party during the Karnataka election.

“Thanks to the people of Karnataka for your love & support to @BJP4India & Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl. We listen to your voice with humility, and we’ll keep working hard to gain your confidence!, the Tamil Nadu BJP chief stated in a subsequent tweet. On Saturday when the results of the Karnataka assembly elections were finalised, Congress gained a commanding majority by capturing 135 seats.

According to the Indian Election Commission, Congress gained 135 seats, ousting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from office in the only southern state it had previously controlled and improving its own chances in future elections. The BJP was able to take 65 seats. JDS (Janata Dal-Secular) won 19 seats. In addition to Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha and Sarvodaya, independents won two seats.

Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister, submitted his resignation to governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot on Saturday after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suffered a defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections. Bommai told reporters .”I have tendered my resignation and it has been accepted,” Bommai defeated his rivals for the Shiggaon constituency by a margin of 35,978 votes, although many of his government colleagues lost.” I take responsibility for this debacle. There are multiple reasons for this. We will find out all the reasons and strengthen the party once again for Parliament elections..,” he said.

With the Congress’ emphatic victory in the Karnataka elections on Saturday, ousting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from power in the only southern state ruled by it, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said the election results marked a “BJP-free South India”. “It is a big victory. Through this, new energy emerged in the whole nation. BJP used to taunt us and say that ‘we will make Congress mukt Bharat’. Now the truth is that it is ‘BJP mukt south India,” said Kharge.

Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said Karnataka election results opened the pathway to save democracy.
