Andhra CM challenges Naidu’s legacy, ex-CM fires back

In a heated exchange of political salvos, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy targeted his long-standing rival, former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, over his record in Kuppam constituency. Meanwhile, Naidu, undeterred by the critique, launched a scathing attack on the Jagan Reddy-led government during a public rally in Srikakulam.
Jagan’s criticism targeted Naidu’s 35-year stint as the MLA of Kuppam and his subsequent three terms as Chief Minister. The Chief Minister alleged that despite this extensive tenure, Naidu has failed to adequately serve the people of Kuppam, akin to his alleged neglect in Chandragiri, where he faced electoral defeat in the past.

Highlighting what he perceives as neglect and lack of development in Kuppam under Naidu’s leadership, Jagan questioned Naidu’s eligibility to represent the constituency. He challenged whether Naidu had made significant contributions to Kuppam’s development during his tenure and even raised doubts about whether Naidu had built a single house in the constituency.

In response, Naidu, speaking at a public rally in Srikakulam, launched a blistering attack on the Jagan Reddy-led government. He criticized the alleged injustice and malfeasance under the current regime, citing unjust arrests of TDP leaders and what he termed as “illegal cases” filed against them.
Drawing comparisons between his own tenure and the current administration, Naidu touted the developmental strides made during his time in office, particularly in Information Technology and infrastructure. He accused the Jagan Reddy government of deception and mismanagement, asserting that the state has suffered more under their rule than it did during the bifurcation period.

Naidu rallied his supporters, declaring that the time had come to end Jagan Reddy’s reign and usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for Andhra Pradesh. He warned of an impending “political storm” fueled by public opposition to the ruling government, predicting a seismic shift in the state’s political landscape.

The verbal sparring between the two leaders underscores the intensifying political rivalry in Andhra Pradesh. As both sides exchange blows, the stage is set for a fierce battle of ideologies and promises as the state heads towards the upcoming elections.
