As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to rise, authorities in Amritsar have urged local residents to take safety precautions. The District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) issued an alert asking citizens to stay inside their homes, turn off lights, and draw curtains to avoid any risk.
“All citizens are requested to stay indoors and away from the windows, keep lights turned off, and draw the window curtains. There is no need to panic. A siren will blow now, and we will pass the message again once it is clear,” the DPRO said in an advisory.
Public Urged to Support Armed Forces
The DPRO praised the armed forces for their ongoing efforts and asked the public to cooperate during this critical time. “Our armed forces are on the job, and we need to support them by staying indoors. There is no need to panic,” the official added.
This warning comes in the wake of increasing military activity along the India-Pakistan border.
Indian Army Responds to Cross-Border Threats
According to defence sources, the Indian Army recently intercepted and destroyed two Pakistani drones in the Naushera sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident happened during a heavy exchange of artillery fire between the two countries’ forces.
Pakistan Targets Military Installations, Says Defence Staff
The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff revealed that Pakistan attempted to strike key military stations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur using missiles and drones. These installations are located near the International Border.
In a post on social media platform X, the Defence Staff confirmed that the Indian Armed Forces successfully countered the attack. “Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur in proximity to the International Boundary, in Jammu and Kashmir, targeted by Pakistan using missiles and drones. No losses. Threat neutralised by Indian Armed Forces as per SoP with kinetic and non-kinetic means,” the statement said.
