Amarnath Yatra 2024: Temporarily Suspended Due to Heavy Rainfall in Kashmir

Amarnath Yatra has been temporarily suspended from Central Kashmir’s Baltal route to Holy Cave on Saturday due to heavy rainfall, leaving the tracks slippery.

The holy shrine, situated at an altitude of 12,756 feet above sea level, remains a revered destination for pilgrims. The authorities are closely monitoring the weather conditions to ensure the safety of all devotees.

The 52-day-long Amarnath Yatra commenced on June 29, and it will culminate on August 19.

According to the Meteorological Department (MeT), Srinagar recorded a significant drop in temperature from a high of 35.7 degrees Celsius earlier this week to 34.2 degrees Celsius. The MeT has forecasted a series of weather changes across Jammu and Kashmir.
