All Women Bikers Honor Kargil Victory With Inspiring Rally

To commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and celebrate the decisive victory in the 1999 Kargil War, Headquarters Uniform Force organized a bike rally. The ‘All Women Motorbike Rally,’ spanning from Leh to Kargil, navigated the rugged terrain of Ladakh, including the world’s two highest motorable passes, Khardung La and Umling La.

This rally honored the indomitable spirit of the Indian soldier and paid tribute to Nari Shakti, challenging gender norms in adventure activities and highlighting the determination, fearlessness, valor, commitment, and devotion of women in the Indian Armed Forces.

The rally team featured 25 experienced women riders from across India, including military spouses, serving women officers, and other ranks. The 16-day journey started at the Leh War Memorial and concluded at the Kargil War Memorial. Along the way, the riders paid homage to martyrs at five major memorials in Ladakh: Hall of Fame (Leh), Siachen War Memorial, Rezang La War Memorial (Chushul), Trishul War Memorial (Karu), and Kargil War Memorial. They also crossed Khardung La (18,380 feet) and Umling La (19,300 feet), the world’s highest motorable passes. Various civil agencies collaborated with the Indian Army in organizing the bike rally, demonstrating their respect for the brave hearts of the Kargil War.

The 1999 Kargil War, fought in the harsh, high-altitude terrain of Jammu & Kashmir, stands as one of the most valiant battles by the Indian Armed Forces. The bravery and sacrifices of the soldiers continue to inspire the nation. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated annually on July 26 to honor the pride and valor of the soldiers involved in Operation Vijay against Pakistan.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Kargil War, with numerous events planned leading up to the Rajat Mahotsav of Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26, 2024.
