Air India’s Airbus A350 Marks International Launch

Air India has initiated flights on the Delhi-Dubai route utilizing its newly acquired Airbus A350-900 aircraft, as per an announcement by the airline. This launch marks the international debut of Air India’s recently acquired planes, making it the exclusive operator of the A350 between India and Dubai.

The commencement of flights was commemorated with pre-departure ceremonies at both Delhi and Dubai airports, where guests received A350 memorabilia. The A350-900 aircraft of Air India features a three-class cabin configuration with 316 seats, comprising 28 private Business suites, 24 Premium Economy seats, and 264 Economy seats, all equipped with state-of-the-art technology and entertainment systems.

The Airbus A350-900 is a long-range passenger aircraft capable of accommodating 300-350 passengers in a three-class setup, with a range of 15,000 kilometers. Powered by two Trent XWB turbofan engines, a result of close collaboration between Airbus and Rolls-Royce, the A350 boasts cutting-edge technology and materials, benefitting from extensive in-service experience.

Currently, Air India operates a total of 72 weekly flights to Dubai from five Indian cities, with 32 originating from Delhi, reinforcing its strong presence in the region. The induction of A350s into Air India’s fleet commenced earlier this year, as part of the historic order for 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, to be delivered over the next five years. This order includes a total of 20 Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

With a non-stop flight duration of 16-17 hours and superior fuel efficiency, burning 25 percent less fuel than its predecessors, the A350-900 is poised to bolster Air India’s standing in the market and provide a competitive edge in long-haul travel.
