The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) revealed its final roster of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on Thursday. AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami emphasized the party’s resilience, stating, “For AIADMK there is no pressure. When MGR started the party and after MGR’s demise how Jayalalitha fought. Our party has faced everything. We will face everything legally.”
In the AIADMK lineup, notable candidates include Prem Kumar for Sriperumbudur, S Pasupathi for Vellore, R Ashokan for Dharmapuri, M Kaliyaperumal for Tiruvannamalai, and Karthikeyan for Pollachi. Additionally, the party’s first list included names like P Karuppaya for Trichy, Chandra Mohan for Perambalur, and Panaguri A Xavier Dhas for Sivangangai.
Moreover, AIADMK and the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) have reached a seat-sharing agreement, with AIADMK contesting 32 seats, DMDMK 5, SDPI 1, and Puthiya Tamilagam 1 from the Tenkasi constituency.
The election is set for April 19 in Tamil Nadu, with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Secular Progressive Alliance emerging victorious in the 2019 elections. The polling for the Lok Sabha elections will span seven phases across the nation, beginning on April 19 and concluding on June 1, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
