After Killing Son, Bengaluru CEO Suchana Seth Now Accused of Assaulting Goa Cop in Jail

Already in jail for the murder of her son, Bengaluru-based AI startup CEO Suchana Seth is charged with new offenses for assaulting a police officer within Goa prison.

Tech entrepreneur Suchana Seth of Bengaluru, who is jailed for allegedly killing her four-year-old son, has now been booked for beating up a woman constable within Goa’s Central Jail. Seth, CEO of Mindful AI Lab, was arrested earlier this year in a sensational case that hit the headlines nationally.

Assault Inside Prison

The scuffle ensued, the police say, when Seth removed the inward register from the women’s prisoner block without authorization. When a woman constable asked her why she was doing that, Seth allegedly verbally abused her, shoved her, kicked her, and yanked her hair, leaving her with visible injuries.

She has now been arrested under Section 121(1) (voluntarily causing injury with intent to intimidate a public official from duty) and Section 352 (offering intentional insult with intent to provoke) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Arrest for Son’s Murder in January 2024

Seth has been in custody since January 2024 when police found the dead body of her son hidden in a suitcase. She was arrested in Chitradurga, Karnataka, on her return from a Goa hotel. Her son’s dead body was discovered in the taxi she had hired for the trip.

Seth had lodged at a service apartment in North Goa’s Candolim area on January 6 with her son, officials said. She had asked the hotel for a taxi to drive back to Bengaluru on January 8. The staff had suspected her motives for opting for a road journey over a lower-cost flight, and they were more worried when they found traces of blood inside the room.

When she was questioned by police, Seth said the blood belonged to her menstrual cycle and that her son was with a friend in Margao, a statement later found to be false. She was arrested when police instructed the taxi driver to take her to the nearest station, where the ghastly find of the child’s body was made.

Frustration Over Custody Battle Cited

Police found a note inside Seth’s luggage, in which she was very frustrated about a pending custody battle with her husband. It is believed by the police that this led her to commit the crime as the note is said to have stated that she would not give custody of her son to anyone.

She was booked under IPC Section 302 (murder), Section 201 (tampering with evidence), and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.

This latest occurrence in prison further complicates her legal status as the investigation and court hearings go on.
