Advocate Dehadrai alleges illegal surveillance by Mahua Moitra

On Tuesday, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai alleged that TMC leader Mahua Moitra is engaging in “illegal surveillance on him with her connections in West Bengal police.” In a letter to CBI Director Praveen Sood and Union Home Minister Amit Shah dated December 29, Advocate Dehadrai claimed that there is a possibility that Moitra is “tracking” his physical location using his aphone number.

Dehadrai’s letter also accused Moitra of a history of misusing her influence with certain senior officers of the Bengal Police to obtain Call Detail Records (CDR) of private individuals, allegedly to stalk specific individuals and their contacts.

The complaint highlighted an instance from 2019 when Moitra supposedly tracked a person named Suhaan Mukerji. Dehadrai alleged that Moitra had revealed orally and in writing (via WhatsApp on 26.09.2019) that she had actively monitored her ex-boyfriend, Suhaan Mukerji, suspecting him of being involved with a German woman.

Dehadrai further alleged that Moitra, assisted by “senior Bengal Police Officers,” had access to the complete call records and history of Mukerji’s phone, including detailed information about the individuals in contact with Mukerji and the precise physical location of his phone throughout the day.

The Advocate also claimed that Moitra had previously threatened him and that he had observed instances where he felt his car was being followed outside his residence in Delhi.
Responding to the allegations, Mahua Moitra ridiculed the claims made in the complaint. She called for the Ministry of Home Affairs to appoint a Special Director in the CBI to investigate complaints from “jilted exes” across India. She also made remarks involving political references and accused the Home Minister of honing surveillance skills while serving in Gujarat.

Moitra, who had faced cash-for-query allegations, was expelled from the Lok Sabha after the Ethics Committee’s report was adopted by the Parliament. She criticized the Ethics Committee for not conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, claiming unfair treatment.

Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai was also the complainant in the alleged “Cash for Query” case.
