Even as Operation Sindoor took over news headlines, the real spark was a mysterious Twitter post by retired Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane that really got public interest and momentum going. Expressing his view on X (formerly Twitter), Naravane posted, “Abhi Picture Baki Hai (The Movie’s not over yet),” without revealing whether a sequel to whatever action was imminent.
His post emerged in the wake of India’s targeted military strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) on Wednesday, May 7. The government had officially confirmed the attack at around 1:44 AM, calling it “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature.” The Indian Armed Forces targeted nine specific locations during the operation, reports say.
The attacks were said to have been conducted in response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baisaran meadow, which on April 22 took 26 lives. The attackers, who were said to have been wearing camouflage, carried out the attack with macabre precision. The Resistance Front (TRF), a suspected proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), later took responsibility.
Naravane’s post, short but powerful, soon went viral, garnering more than 161,000 views. It cast a spell of support and speculation with many people appreciating the Indian Army’s strategic genius and courage. “We are not in danger, we are the danger,” said one. Another opined, “This is some next level hyping up. I’m so happy to see India finally behaving the way it should have done a long time ago.” A third person said, “I like this. Best wishes India.”
Naravane’s post’s popularity not only spoke volumes about unity with the army but also drew speculation about there being further operations.
