Aadhar Update: UIDAI Extends Deadline For Free Aadhaar Updates

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced an extension of the deadline for Aadhaar card holders to update their details for free. Initially set for June 14, 2024, the deadline has been extended to September 14, allowing Aadhaar holders to update their address and certain other details without charge until the new deadline.

Update Process Details

Updating details on Aadhaar for free can be done through the myAadhaar portal. Offline updates incur a fee of INR 50. Until September 14, changes like name, address, photo, and other details can be updated free of cost on the UIDAI website’s online portal.

Previous Deadline History

UIDAI has extended the deadline multiple times in the past. The initial deadline was December 15, 2023, which was then extended to March 14. Subsequently, the deadline was further extended to June 14 before the recent extension to September 14, 2024.

How to Update Details on Aadhaar

  1. Visit https//myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
  2. Log in using your 16-digit Aadhaar number
  3. Enter the captcha code and click on “Sign in with OTP”
  4. Enter the OTP sent to your registered number
  5. Access the portal and select “Update Document”
  6. Choose your identity and address proof documents and upload them
  7. Submit the update request to receive a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN).
