7 Million Views but Fake: IFS Reveals Viral Lion Video is AI-Generated

Computer-made videos are dominating social media, and some are so good that one is no longer sure if they are real or fake. A recent viral video of a lion approaching an Indian man sleeping on the street, sniffing him, and then departing without any harm, and it has caused a hot debate on whether it was a real video or not.

Viral Lion Clip Attracts 7 Million Views

The clip was estimated to have 7 million views, but government official IFS Parween Kaswan stepped forward to reveal it as AI-based. This is worrying for the abuse of AI usage in manipulating and lying to the public, given that the technology is still in its early stages of development.

Kaswan posted the video shared by update NEWS on social media and wrote, “This video of a lion smelling a human has about 7 million views. This is an AI-generated clip. Imagine how AI can be used to mislead people. And now imagine AI is still in its infancy !!”

Public Reaction to Video

The video evoked mixed reactions. Some of the viewers were surprised at how realistic the clip was, and others asked Kaswan for tips on how to determine whether a video had been made with AI. A user posed the question, “Sir, please clarify how you determine this AI-generated video.”

Others also showed concern regarding the possible risks of deepfake technology, with one saying, “Imagine how deepfake and AI can do far up tensions in some parts, which are sensitive.” Another individual thanked Kaswan for making things clear, saying, “Thank you for letting me know. I was confused too, and was about to send it to people!”

As AI technology continues to evolve rapidly, the challenge of distinguishing genuine content from fabricated videos will likely become more complex, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and media literacy.
