24-year-old security guard in Panipat arrested for leaking info to Pak

The Panipat police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly leaking sensitive information to a handler based in Pakistan. The accused, identified as 24-year-old Nauman Ilahi, hails from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district and was employed as a security guard at an industrial unit in Panipat.

Arrest made following intelligence inputs

Karnal Superintendent of Police Ganga Ram Punia confirmed the arrest while speaking to Hindustan Times. He said, “The man was arrested and interrogated based on reliable inputs. During interrogation, it was revealed that he has links with individuals in Pakistan, with whom he was sharing sensitive and important information.”

FIR lodged, phone seized for forensic investigation

Following the interrogation, officials registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Industrial Area police station in Panipat. Authorities also seized Ilahi’s mobile phone, which is now under forensic investigation to gather further evidence.

Additional questioning and probe ongoing

SP Punia added, “We have questioned other individuals as well and some evidence are yet to be collected from various agencies. However, the allegations against him appeared to be true prima facie, following which the case was lodged.”

The investigation remains active, and police are working closely with relevant agencies to uncover the extent of the data breach and identify possible accomplices.
