20 Cows found dead at Shri Krishan Gaushala in Phagwara, 28 others fall Ill; Probe started

Twenty cows were found dead under mysterious circumstances at Shri Krishan Gaushala on Sunday night, while 28 others fell seriously ill after consuming feed. The shocking incident has sparked outrage and raised suspicions of foul play, prompting police to initiate an investigation.

The deaths were reported when the gaushala staff noticed the animals exhibiting unusual symptoms after being fed. Soon after, 20 cows succumbed, while 28 others showed signs of distress. Veterinary experts were called in to provide immediate treatment to the surviving cows.

Several Hindu leaders immediately drew attention to the incident, including Shiv Sena’s Inderjit Karwal, who visited the gaushala and alleged that miscreants had deliberately poisoned the animals. “This is not just an attack on these innocent animals but on our faith. We demand the immediate arrest of those behind this heinous act,” Karwal said, urging authorities to act decisively.

SSP Gaurav Toora Kapurthala said that the police have registered a case on the complaint of gaushala manager Satnam Singh. He has assured the public that all measures are being taken to uncover the truth. The carcasses of the dead cows have been sent to Ludhiana for post-mortem examination so that the exact cause of death could be known. The affected cows are being treated locally under the supervision of veterinary specialists.

SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said investigations are on, “We are looking into all possibilities, including even poisoning. Forensic reports will throw more light,” she added.
The local residents were shocked by the incident. Most of them are of the opinion that the safety of the animals in the gaushala has been compromised. Many are demanding strict security measures along with regular checks to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

The gaushala management has, on its part, called the public to calm down and cooperate with the authorities amid the continuing investigation. This is a deeply distressing situation for all of us, said Satnam Singh. “We trust the police will bring the culprits to justice.”.

The case has underlined vigilance in protecting gaushalas, which, despite their operations often relying on the public and government, end up losing such tragedies. The authorities are still trying to gather the events leading up to this tragic loss. Further updates are awaited.
