In this current tour of the West Indies, the Indian team got a very good opportunity to recognise their young talent. This is the first time on West Indies soil that this young Indian team, made a clean sweep in the ODI series and except for one or two players, all the other players are very young. Nevertheless, this kind of performance augurs well for the future.

The way Shubman Gill has given India a strong start as an opener along with captain Shikhar Dhawan, he must have impressed the selectors. The truth is that India has always been on the lookout for a talent like Gill who can perform well and play for a long time in all three formats. However, a lot will depend on Gill and how much ability he has to show his talent.

At the same time, in bowling, Mohammad Siraj has once again shown his talent and has taken wickets for Team India on important occasions. Whether it is death over or bowling with the new ball, Siraj has strengthened the team at every opportunity in this series. A good example of this was the third match of the ODI series, in which Siraj took two wickets in his very first over to push the hosts on the back foot from the very beginning.

Undoubtedly, nothing could be better for the Indian team as this team has made a clean sweep on foreign soil without the presence of its key players. However, a lot of credit for this win goes to captain Shikhar Dhawan as it was a stressful tour for him as a captain after his return but this batsman explained why he is considered one of India’s leading openers in ODI cricket and if Dhawan continues to perform like this, very soon he could be seen making a comeback in ODI cricket along with Rohit Sharma.

Apart from being a former Indian wicket-keeper batsman, the writer has also been a former selector.
