Arshdeep Singh’s stellar performance against the United States of America in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match on Wednesday earned him a place in the record books. The left-arm pacer’s explosive start saw him claim two wickets in the very first over, setting the stage for India’s dominance in the game.

Arshdeep’s remarkable feat of dismissing opener Shayan Jahangir on the first ball of the match marked a historic moment, making him the first-ever Indian bowler to achieve such a milestone in T20 World Cup history. At just 25 years old, Arshdeep joined an elite group of players worldwide to accomplish this unique feat in T20 World Cup matches.

Among the select few bowlers who have achieved this feat previously are Mashrafe Mortaza of Bangladesh, Shapoor Zadran of Afghanistan, and Ruben Trumplemann of Namibia. Mortaza was the first to achieve this feat in 2014, followed by Zadran, and Trumplemann’s notable performances in both 2021 and 2024.

Arshdeep’s achievement not only made headlines in the T20 World Cup arena but also earned him the distinction of being the first Indian bowler to take a wicket on the first ball of a T20I match, further solidifying his place in cricketing history. His outstanding performance showcases his talent and sets a high standard for future Indian bowlers to emulate.
