India successfully tested a new generation “Agni Prime” ballistic missile on Friday, according to the Centre. The defence officials stated that the missile was tested at around 9:45 am off the coast of Odisha.

The missile reportedly covered its full range, and all test goals were achieved, according to the officials. Reportedly, they claimed that the precision and reliability of the system had been proven with this third consecutively successful flight test of the Agni Prime missile.

They further added that the “performance of the system was validated using the data obtained by a number of range instrumentation, such as radar, telemetry, and electro-optical tracking systems.”

“The systems were deployed at different locations, including two down-range ships at the terminal point to cover the entire trajectory,” they said.

India fired the Agni Prime missile earlier in 2021 from the APJ Abdul Kalam island off the coast of Odisha. The missile has a dual redundant navigation and guidance system and is a two-stage canisterized solid-propellant ballistic missile, according to DRDO.
