India is learnt to have shared with Myanmar “credible inputs” on how China is “hosting and training” rebel leaders of insurgent groups that have their camps or hideouts in Myanmar.
Backed by Beijing, these groups, which have a safe haven in Myanmar, are involved in violent and disruptive activities in the Northeast.
Diplomatic sources told The Daily Guardian, “Delhi has given substantial evidence to Naypyidaw, revealing that anti-India insurgent outfits are regrouping themselves with the proper backing of China to create trouble in the northeast region of India. India has urged Myanmar to look into all the details and take effective steps to rein in the groups which have hideouts or camps there only.”
India has, through diplomatic channels, conveyed its resentment on this to China as well, sources added. According to sources, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, during his visit to Myanmar on 22-23 December, apprised military-commander-in-chief General Min Aung Hlaing and other officials about the same, expressing concern over the insurgent outfits having haven in the neighbouring country.
