India reported a single-day spike of 83,341 cases which pushed India’s coronavirus tally past the 39-lakh mark. The total number of cases now stand at 39,36,347. The country witnessed 1,096 Covid-related deaths during the period taking the total death count to 68,472. Meanwhile, 30,37,151 patients have recovered from the disease in the country, pushing the recovery rate to 77 per cent. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh account for approximately 70 per cent of the total Covid-19 deaths.

Maharashtra reported its biggest single-day spike of coronavirus cases after 19,218 more patients confirmed positive in the last 24 hours. With this, Maharashtra’s overall tally of virus positives have reached 8,63,062.

Tamil Nadu recorded 5,976 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally to 4,51,827, while 79 fatalities pushed the death toll to 7,687. Andhra Pradesh reported 10,776 new coronavirus cases, 12,334 recoveries and 76 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 4,76,506 including 3,70,163 recoveries and 4,276 deaths.

Delhi’s tally reaches 1,85,220 with 2,914 fresh infections and 13 deaths reported in last twenty-four hours. Haryana reported its highest single day spike of 1,884 Covid-19 cases, taking the infection tally to 71,983 while 19 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 759.
