NEW DELHI: India’s active coronavirus cases continued to decline as the daily infections were 6.6 percent lower on Friday as compared to Thursday. The country has consistently logged more recoveries than new cases, taking the number of those being treated for Covid-19 to 2.81 lakhs.On Friday, 23,067 new cases of Covid-19 along with 336 deaths were recorded. The country›s cumulative Covid-19 case count now stands at 1,01,46,845 with 1,47,096 deaths.
Delhi reported 758 new Covid-19 cases, 1,370 recoveries and 30 deaths. Meanwhile, the total number of cases in the city is 6,21,439, with 6,02,388 recoveries. The national capital’s death toll reached 10,414. Active cases in the city stand at 7,267.
Maharashtra reported 3,580 new Covid-19 cases and 89 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total count of cases in the state has increased to 19,09,951, including 54,891 active cases and 18,04,871 recoveries. The death count has gone up to 49,058.
Mizoram reported 22 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday, pushing the number of coronavirus cases in the state to 4,178. The state now has 146 active cases, while 4,024 people have recovered from the disease and 8 have died.
Uttar Pradesh reported 1,285 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, pushing the coronavirus tally in the state to 5,79,982. The coronavirus death toll in the state rose to 8,279 with 13 people succumbing to the infection on December 25.
Odisha reported 325 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, pushing the state’s coronavirus tally to 3,27,867. The death toll in the state rose to 1,853 with three new fatalities in the last 24 hours.
