NEW DELHI: With only 424 fresh infections reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours, for the first time in the last seven and a half months, the number of Covid-19 cases has gone below 500 in the national capital.

As per the latest health bulletin, there were 424 positive cases in Delhi, showing a 0.62 percent positivity rate after 68,759 tests were conducted on people suspecting symptoms of Covid-19 that has claimed 10,585 lives and infected 6,26,872 people in the city till date.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said, “For the first time, positive cases were less than 500, and the positivity rate was on a continuous decline.” “After May 17, 2020, this is the lowest number of cases. Positivity rate has fallen to 0.73 percent implying that in every 1,000 tests conducted, seven positive cases are detected. Testing is still being conducted on a large scale,” he added. However, he also stressed that it is still advisable to wear a mask and follow all precautions. “It is better to remain on the safer side,” he said.

In Maharashtra, the coronavirus tally reached 19,32,112, including 18,28,546 recoveries. The cumulative death toll in the state reached 49,521.

Gujarat’s tally of coronavirus positive cases rose to 2,47,228 on Sunday with the addition of 715 fresh infections. With four more deaths, the number of people who have succumbed to the viral disease in the state went up to 4,318. A total of 938 patients were also discharged from various hospitals during the day, taking the count of recoveries in Gujarat to 2,33,660.

Telangana recorded 394 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total positive cases to over 2.87 lakhs, while three fatalities pushed the toll to 1,549 on Sunday.
