During the Modi government’s tenure, India’s foreign policy achieved notable milestones. A significant diplomatic achievement was the successful adoption of the Delhi Declaration amid escalating tensions due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict at the G20 Summit.
In an exclusive interview with NewsX, Dr. Jaishankar underscores India’s enhanced global perception over the past decade.
Dr. Jaishankar commented on India’s approach, stating, “It’s often not in our interest to make binary choices. We have the capacity to maintain good relations with both Russia and the U.S.”
He further discussed the Modi government’s deliberate decision not to take sides in global conflicts, instead striving to foster consensus among world leaders.
Highlighting PM Modi’s approach, Dr. Jaishankar remarked, “The Prime Minister has a vision for the world similar to his vision for India. He has practical policies for both India and the world. Being practical doesn’t mean lacking ideals.”
The External Affairs Minister also addressed the extension of PM Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ mantra beyond borders. He emphasized India’s assistance to the world through COVID-19 vaccine supply, financial aid to Sri Lanka, and recent anti-piracy operations in the Arabian Sea.
Dr. Jaishankar emphasized, “India aims for tangible outcomes rather than headline-grabbing gestures in this era of unprecedented actions.”
