In the three-match ODI series, Team India defeated the West Indies by 119 runs in Port of Spain on Wednesday to complete a clean sweep triumph. In a game that was hampered by weather, India bowled the Windies out for just 137 runs after scoring 226/3; the goal for the Windies was 257 (Duckworth/Lewis Method). Yuzvendra Chahal, a leg-spinner, excelled with the ball, taking four wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur each claimed two.

Shikhar Dhawan led the team in both white-ball competitions last year in Sri Lanka, leading India to an ODI series victory of 2-1. This was his second ODI series as captain. Dhawan joined a select group of Indian captains who have won every game of an away bilateral series when he led the team to a clean sweep victory in the Caribbean.

The left-handed batsman is only the fourth Indian captain to accomplish the feat in away ODI matches, making him the first to do it in the West Indies.

Additionally, this is the third occasion in a calendar year that a team has defeated a nation in a pair of clean sweep series. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India defeated the Windies at home by the same margin in February.

This was first accomplished in 2001 by Zimbabwe against Bangladesh. In fact, it was Bangladesh who defeated Kenya five years later to accomplish the feat.
