INDIA BACK IN 35K COVID CLUB AFTER 100 DAYS

Of the country’s 35,872 new cases, Maharashtra reports 25,833 cases, the highest daily figure since pandemic outbreak; the active caseload reaches 252,364.

India recorded 35,871 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day rise in over 100 days, which took the infection tally to 1,14,74,605. The active caseload reached 2,52,364, which accounts for 2.20% of the total infections. The recovery rate further dropped to 96.41%. The death count increased to 1,59,216 with 172 new fatalities. The single-day spike of 35,871 cases is the highest in 102 days. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,10,63,025, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.39%.

Maharashtra reported 25,833 new Covid-19 cases, the highest daily figure since pandemic outbreak, 12,764 discharges and 58 deaths. The total number of active cases stand at 1,66,353, while the death toll is 53,138. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 2,877 fresh coronavirus cases, 1,193 recoveries, and eight deaths. Nagpur which is under lockdown sees another single-day spike of 3,796 new Covid-19 cases.

Delhi on Thursday witnessed 607 new Covid-19 cases, the highest in nearly 2.5 months. The city also reported one fatality, 384 recoveries. Delhi’s total caseload now stands at 6,45,632 including 6,31,759 recoveries. Delhi at present has 2,924 active cases.

Earlier on Thursday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that vaccination capacity in Delhi will be ramped up from about 40,000 per day to 1.25 lakh daily.

With the addition of 98 fresh coronavirus cases, the tally of infections in Goa reached 56,271. While 41 patients were discharged from hospitals, one died. With this, the count of recoveries has reached 54,597 and the toll stood at 813. This has left it with 861 active cases.

Madhya Pradesh reported 917 new Covid-19 cases, which pushed its overall tally to 2,71,957, while one death took the count to 3,894. A total of 500 people were discharged from hospitals, taking the recovery count to 2,62,031.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 140 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 1,28,097, while one more person died. Out of the fresh cases, 25 were from the Jammu division and 115 from the Kashmir division. The number of active cases was 1,073, while 1,25,046 patients have recovered so far. The death count is 1,978 as one death was reported from Kashmir Valley.

Kerala registered 1,899 new Covid-19 infections and 15 deaths, taking the gross to 10.98 lakh and the toll to 4,450. It tested 54,314 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate was 3.5%.

The cumulative coronavirus positive cases in Andhra Pradesh increased to 8,92,740 with the addition of 218 cases. 117 patients recovered from the infection, taking the total to 8,83,759. The overall toll remained at 7,186 as no death was reported. There are 1,795 active cases.

Tamil Nadu reported 989 fresh Covid-19 cases, 569 discharges, and nine deaths, taking the overall tally to 8,63,363 cases. The recovery count reached to 8,44,568 meanwhile it now has 6,222 active cases. Death toll has reached to 12,573.
