Punjab cop killed, three injured in open firing by Nihang Sikhs

An altercation between Sulltanpur Lodhi police and a group of Nihang Sikhs resulted in one police constable’s death and three other police personnel’s injuries on Thursday, according to police. The ongoing conflict between two Nihang factions over possession of a Gurdwara at Sulltanpur Lodhi in the Kapurthala district of Punjab led to the gunfight. According to an earlier press release, Baba Balveer Singh, the head of the Baba Buddha Dal, had taken over the front of a Gurudwara, where his two assistants, Nirvair Singh and Jagjit Singh, were seated.
