Classes commence at IIM Sambalpur in online mode

After completing its end term examinations of the first-year students using online proctoring systems, the classes of MBA (2nd year) at IIM Sambalpur also commenced this week and is being conducted completely online. Moreover, the classes of MBA (1st year) will also begin in the online mode from 10 August 2020. The commencement of the new batch will be from 3 August and induction will continue till 7 August 2020. The online classes will be conducted with the help of several digital tools and processes to facilitate effective learning.

Speaking on this, Prof Mahadeo Jaiswal, director, IIM Sambalpur, said, “The global pandemic has taught us that being innovative is the only way to lead. IIM Sambalpur has always believed in contemporary and new-age learning… Owing to the present circumstances, the first term of MBA first year and fourth term of MBA second year will be conducted completely through the online mode as students are not on the campus and will take sessions from their home. Our preparedness has helped us take on these extraordinary circumstances head on.”

IIT Madras introduces advanced certification programme

 Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), along with an edutech platform Great Learning, has announced the launch of an advanced certification programme in software engineering for IoT, cloud and blockchain. This 9-month long online programme will be co-developed and co-delivered by top-notch faculty and industry experts from IIT-Madras and Great Learning. The programme offers 300 hours of online video learning sessions, live learning sessions, and a series of practical projects in cloud computing, block chain and IoT. This programme focuses on making current and aspiring software developers job-ready and future-proof by teaching them cutting edge technologies and is designed to bridge the talent shortage faced by the industry in the areas of cloud computing, blockchain and Internet of Things.

This programme aims to help learners develop the required skills for roles like software development engineers, software/technical architects, solution architects, cloud engineers, etc.

IIHMR University seeks application for MBA scholarships

IIHMR University, Jaipur, has opened the application for ‘Late Shri PD Agarwal Scholarship’ for students enrolling for its 2-year MBA in Rural Management course. The university is offering 21 scholarships in two categories. The first category of scholarships will cover 20% of the total tuition fee on a first- come-first-serve basis. This is available to the first 20 students with 50% and above marks in graduation. The second category of the scholarship will cover 50% of the total tuition fee and is only for one student with 50% and above in CAT/XAT. The tuition fee for the 2-year course is Rs 5,25,000. The amount of scholarship will be adjusted in the fee and will not be disbursed directly to the student.

 The MBA in Rural Management course by IIHMR University is committed to developing a cadre of trained professional managers. They can manage rural development organisations and programmes in both the public and the private sectors. The course admits 30 students every year and focuses on rural-urban linkages and interdependencies, water, sanitation and nutrition, child development, rights and protection, livelihood, skills and enterprises, and agri-business and value chains.

 UPES cancels entrance tests, admissions now on Class 12 marks

 In wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES Dehradun) has cancelled its UPESEAT 2020 (Engineering Aptitude Test) and UPESPAT 2020 (Pharmacy Aptitude Test). The university also issued revised admission guidelines, according to which admissions for BTech & BPharma will be done based on 10+2 central/state board results.

Applicants can log in to https:// admission.upes.ac.in/apply and apply online to be a part of the online selection process. Shiv Nadar University hosts virtual graduation ceremony

Shiv Nadar University, celebrated its sixth graduation ceremony virtually, owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It was hosted on university’s social media channels — Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Shiv Nadar University awarded degrees to 601 graduating students, including 24 PhDs, from various streams of Engineering, Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Fine Arts, as well as Management. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, executive director and CEO of HCL Corporation and trustee, Shiv Nadar Foundation, and Shikhar Malhotra, pro-chancellor, Shiv Nadar University, addressed and congratulated the students.

Dr Rupamanjari Ghosh, vicechancellor, Shiv Nadar University, said, “This has been a very challenging, yet special year for us as we pushed the envelope to find innovative ways to provide uninterrupted quality education to our students, while ensuring their safety and that of our faculty and staff. This ceremony is historic because it celebrates the culmination of the academic life at SNU of over 600 students after a very unusual semester.”
