The plot of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ seems to have played out in real life in Bihar, where a husband has assisted his wife in reuniting with her childhood sweetheart.

In Ramnagar, Lakhisarai district, 26-year-old Rajesh Kumar made it possible for his 22-year-old wife, Khushboo Kumari, to marry her long-time love, Chandan Kumar, 24, just last week.

The Times of India reported that Khushboo’s in-laws discovered her secret relationship with Chandan when they caught her meeting him at their home late at night. Rajesh then brought the issue to the village and decided to arrange for his wife to marry Chandan.

Rajesh explained, “Both had been deeply in love and were often found talking to each other,” adding that he had “just helped them stay together.”

The unique tale of Rajesh and Khushboo, who have a two-year-old son, is attracting significant attention.

In a similar but distinct story from April in Bihar, Dileshwar Darve, a 55-year-old from a village in Banka district, married his mother-in-law after discovering their affair. Reports state that Darve’s wife, Geeta Devi, 45, developed a close bond with their son-in-law, Sikandar Yadav, who had been living with them since the death of his wife.

A viral video captures Yadav applying sindoor to Devi’s hairline as villagers celebrate the new couple.
