Dead Reckoning Part One” has just made summer 2023 the season of action-packed thrillers. The seventh movie in the iconic spy franchise, directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, is already garnering critical acclaim ahead of its India release on July 12.

This next exhilarating chapter, co-written by McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, follows the 2018 “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”. This time, Cruise shares the spotlight with a stellar cast including Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, and Rebecca Ferguson, among others.

Announced by Cruise in early 2019, the seventh and eighth installments have been filmed consecutively, with McQuarrie at the helm for both. Filming for “Dead Reckoning Part One” began in February 2020 and despite COVID-19 interruptions, it wrapped up in September 2021 at various global locations, including Italy, Norway, the UK, and the UAE.

Notably absent from the crew is J. J. Abrams, marking the first time since “Mission: Impossible 2” in 2000. With a whopping budget of $290 million, this film joins the ranks of the most expensive films in cinematic history.

The film premiered in Rome on June 19, and the anticipation is palpable as U.S. theaters prepare for the thrill of the year. Furthermore, fans can already mark their calendars for June 28, 2024, when “Dead Reckoning Part Two” is slated for release. The summer of spies is truly upon us, and it seems impossible to resist.
