According to the India Meteorological Department, a depression over the southeast Arabian Sea, south of Porbandar in Gujarat, is anticipated to move northwest and strengthen into a cyclonic storm. The depression was located around 5:30 am about 920 kilometres west-southwest of Goa, 1,120 km south-southwest of Mumbai, 1,160 km south of Porbandar, and 1,520 km south of Karachi, Pakistan, according to a dispatch from the Met office.

Within the next 24 hours, it is expected to move roughly northward and become a cyclonic storm over the adjacent southeast Arabian Sea and the east-central Arabian Sea.
